Products come and go, even for the essentials. I guess there is no better way to say farewell to a product I love the most by writing a review.
- Shapes your legs without adding too much pressure.
- Sheer tights with elegant glimmer.
- Toes move freely because less pressure.
- Wide waistband for optimal comfort.
First look & packaging
The “Shape & Control” products has a thin red colouring that runs across the top of the cardboard. The rest is basically the same as the Nude 8 Tights packaging reviewed earlier.
Appearance & texture
The tights has a very similar appearance to their close relative Satin Touch 20 tights. Both are sheer tights with an elegant sheen. However, the Leg Support ones are less stretchy than their relatives. In addition, the toes are not reinforced. If you look closely, you will find that the knitting is quite different when compared to Nude 8 tights or the Individual series (click on the images below for close look).
The width of the waistband is 6cm, meaning they don’t roll downwards easily.
Size L is the largest you can potentially find. If you are taller than 180cm (5’11”), I am afraid you have to look for alternatives. Also, due to the nature of these tights, it is crucial to have the right size to achieve optimum effect.
Though choices are far less than the Satin Touch 20 Tights, Wolford has included the essential colours for you: Cosmetic, Sand, Sahara, Gobi, Honey, Black and Nearly black.
They offer great balance between reinforcement and ventilation: on one hand these tights shapes your legs to give a better looking; on the other hand, their sheer nature allows body heat to dissipate, which is a huge bonus in a hot summer day.
I am fine with light reinforcement on the panty but I know not all men can withstand the pressure; toes are not squeezed thanks to less reinforcement on the tip of the pantyhose.
I do notice that my calf muscles gets a bit sore after wearing them all day, regardless of doing lots of walking/standing or not. My guess is that the muscles are reacting to the reinforcement, i.e., you are actually working on your leg muscles, how awesome!
Personally I hate to see it discontinued, as I love them very much. Having said that, shape & control product lines has been continuously evolving. I wouldn’t be surprised if Wolford reinvent Satin Touch 20 Leg Support in the future. You can still purchase these in retail shops or online while the stock last. You may even find a bargain!
Apparently, Satin Touch 20 Leg Support is online again, in the Factory Outlet section. Link above will take you there. (06/10/16)
Wolford has discontinued the product. You can’t purchase online but may still find them in retail stores. (22/08/16)
