I haven’t fully explore Falke’s tights collection because I have had issues with sizing. Size L is too large for me and size M is apparently the vice versa. Size M/L seems to be the best fit but is not stocked at the online retailers I often visit. So I took the opportunity and bought a couple pairs of tights in size M/L during my Europe break, and Fond de Poudre 10 is one of them. Scroll down to see what’s special about them.
Strengths & Weaknesses
- Very soft and smooth for the skin
- Powder effect to the eye
- Discreet sheen as opposed to total matte
- Narrow waistband
- Bulge but no bags
First look & packaging
The packaging is identical to Falke products I reviewed before. You can find out more from here.
Appearance & texture
Fond de Poudre 10 are ultra transparent (10 denier) tights that is sheer to the waist and in matte fashion. The texture feels silky and very smooth. The waistband measures approximately 1.8cm wide. There is also a 3cm-wide finger band immediately below the waistband. A gusset with hygienic effect is used for sizes S to L and for XL, a comfort gusset is used. In addition, the toe section is lightly reinforced.
The composition is 65% polyamide and 35% elastane.

A total of 6 sizes are available for this style, which I have attached below. Size M/L (III) is used in this review.
There are currently 6 shades available (from left to right): Black, Anthracite, Powder, Sun, Brasil and Cocoon. I have chosen Cocoon for this review.

As I have anticipated, the fit is quite good. The texture feels really soft and smooth. The matte appearance gives a powder effect to the legs, brushing away any uneven shades I have on my skin. Its sheerness is fully expressed from the birthmark at my left knee (see picture below). Although the waistband seems a bit narrow, it did not roll down or cause any discomfort around the waist after prolonged wear.
The tights do budge downwards as the day passes. I have to adjust it slightly so the tights are in the right place. Having said that, there was no bags below the knees or above the heels thanks to the high amount of elastane.
I also would like to point out that although being advertised as matte, the tights does exhibit a discreet reflective sheen. Personally, I like the subtle changes of appearance as a result of light/viewing angle.
It is easy to buy ultra transparent tights in matte appearance. It is also not too difficult to find tights having a very fine and smooth texture. However, to have both features, as well as made in high quality and is under £20 (or €20) can be a challenge. Fortunately, Falke has them all. You can find these tights for £16 or €18. The style also comes in Stay-up and Stocking.
I am glad that I finally found the right size, hence you can look forward to more Falke reviews in the future.
