It is the last review of the year 2017 and I have decided to go vintage… a pair of Wolford Individual Back Seam tights I bought long time ago but never had the chance to wear it.
Strengths & Weaknesses
⊕ Slimmer looking legs as the back seam redefines the silhouette of the lower body.
⊕ Very comfortable to wear because of the soft and silky texture.
⊕ Reinforced toe with sufficient room.
• Mild heat trapping due to the knitting.
Packaging & product description
The packaging is pretty much the same as those Wolford tights I reviewed before. The product description is the same online and on the back of packaging. I have extracted them below:
Timelessly feminine: these razor-thin tights with a mat look are a true classic. They have always demanded attention with their knitted seam from the toe to the top. Sensual elegance that never gets old.
- Exclusive feel with an extraordinarily even look
- Excellent stretch and a perfect fit, thanks to the use of double-wrapped elastane in each row
- Soft knitted waistband with the Wolford logo
- Barely visible shadow toe reinforcement
- Cotton gusset
Appearance & texture
The Individual 10 Back Seam is sheer (10 Denier appearance) tights in total matte fashion. It has a very soft & silky texture, and is very stretchy. The back seam is black-coloured and runs from panty to the sole of the foot. It has the same width (approximately 1.5mm) throughout, i.e., does not widen at the heel. The knitted waistband measures 3cm wide and the finger band is 5.5cm. There is a gusset and reinforced toe section.
The composition is 82% polyamide and 18% elastane.

The size ranges from XS to L. I have included the size chart below. Size S is used in this review.
There are three colours available at the time of writing this review. They are Black/Black, Sahara/Black and Gobi/Black (the back seam only comes in black colour). I bought Sahara/Black for this review.

GETTING IT ON
Thanks to the back seam, it was a no-brainer to differentiate between front and back. I found that once you place the back seam to the middle of the heel, the rest would line up accordingly.
The fit was good. There was very good envelopment from the panty to feet. Most Wolford tights can accommodate a couple centimetres more than the size chart suggests if you are lean. Also, there is sufficient room for the toes as the section is made wide and loose. I didn’t experience any bags around the knee. I don’t expect that to happen anyway, as the tights are very stretchy. The knitted waistband was comfortable by the way.
The appearance was interesting. From the rear, it looked as if the leg is sliced into half. The legs looked slimmer as a result. The total matte also has a powdery effect, like make-up on the legs.
The texture was extraordinary soft and silky. They are so comfortable that once you put on, you don’t want to take it off. Remember in my last review I spoke about certain knitting are more likely to trap heat? The Individual 10 Back Seam belongs to this kind. It is However, not as significant, as the denier is essentially halved.
The Individual 10 Back Seam tights have all the great features that the Individual range can offer. These include fine texture and a separate, knitted reinforced toe. The back seam redefines the silhouette of the lower body by making it look slimmer. I imaging the effect would be greater if the Black/Black colour is used.
The individual 10 Back Seam is near perfect. The lack of colour choice is a downside but not a huge hurdle to overcome. Depending on the circumstance, the heat trapping can be a benefit or a nuisance.
The tights are available year-around for €33 or £29. You can find them online as well as in retail shops.
