When I picked this up from the outlet, I thought it was Luxe 9 Tights. It turned out to be a fraternal twin of such with a different item number. Swipe down to see the subtle difference it has to offer.
Strengths & Weaknesses
⊕ Powder effect, like foundation to the skin.
⊕ Very silky, soft and smooth feel.
• Sheer-to-waist with T-shaped Fingerband.
⊗ Very delicate, prone to snag.
Packaging & product description
The packaging uses the standard cardboard, tri-fold cardboard and transparent plastic sleeve manner. You could spot the difference if you have both Luxe 9 and Luxury 9 in front of you. Otherwise, it is very easy to mix them up.
The website better describes the product, which I have extracted here:
“Elegant sheerness: Almost invisible, hardly noticeable, airy light tights that are indispensable when it comes to wearing sandals and peep-toe shoes thanks to the unreinforced toes.”
- No elastane, stretchiness achieved due to use of a special yarn
- Elastane is only used in the knitted waistband
- Soft, comfortable knitted waistband featuring the Wolford logo
- Cotton gusset
- Light and summery.
Appearance & texture
Luxury 9 are ultra sheer (9 Denier appearance) in reflective sheen fashion. It is sheer-to-waist. The texture is very soft, smooth and silky. The knitted Wolford signature waistband measures 3cm wide. Immediately below the waistband is the 6cm-wide fingerband. It extends along both sides of the panty seam, forming a T shape. There is a cotton gusset; the toes and the heels are not reinforced.
The composition is 100% Polyamide. There is no Elastane. Elasticity is achieved by a special developed yarn.

The size ranges from XS to XL. I have attached the size chart below. I have used size S for this review.
The item was released in 4 colours: Caramel, Honey, Gobi and Near Black. Now it is subject to availability. I have bought Caramel for this review.

The fit was very good and true to the size recommendation. The envelopment was very light. It was like a piece of light fabric hovering over the skin. I had no issues with the waistband.
Being ultra-sheer, they were not easy to spot, at least, not in ambient light setting. Instead, it was more like foundation to the skin, even all blemishes. The tights do have reflective sheen under direct sunlight.
As described earlier, the fingerband is T shaped. This is the biggest difference compared to Luxe 9, which has a tanga-shaped fingerband.
The Caramel colour I chose is darker than my skin tone but because it is ultra-sheer, it didn’t make my legs look darker. I suspect the lighter colours would have the same effect, which will allow you to experiment with.
It felt exceptionally silky, as well as very soft and smooth. It was also very light in terms of weight. I had the tendency to forget I am wearing them. As you would expect, the breathability was excellent.
The tights is especially delicate. My previous experience with such knitting always resulted in few snags on the first try. And this time was no exception. You can try using hosiery gloves, though I didn’t find them useful. By the way, the snags didn’t turn into run.
The Luxury 9 has some of great features including powder effect and silky touch. Its proneness to snag means it doesn’t last long. If you are wearing it for a special occasion, do bring a spare pair if you can.
Luxury 9 is almost identical to Luxe 9. The only difference between the two is the shape of the fingerband. If you like the ultra-sheerness of Luxe 9 and you don’t mind the shape of fingerband, Luxury 9 is a good choice.
The original price for Luxury 9 tights was €19, £15 or USD$32. Now you will probably find it in a Wolford Outlet with reduced price.
