I always try to balance the variety of the specs in my reviews monthly. So no matter where you are, there is something suitable to look into. The downside is that I would be testing a higher denier tights in very warm weather, and this is one of those days.
Strengths & Weaknesses
⊕ Very soft and smooth feel to the skin.
⊕ Very comfortable to wear because of pressure-free waistband and flat seam.
⊕ Lightly reinforced toe section.
⊗ Some uneven colour distribution.

Appearance & texture
The Velvet 40 are semi-opaque (40 denier appearance) in matte fashion. The total length measures 83cm when laid on a flat surface; the length from waistband to crotch is 20cm. The texture is very smooth, soft and silky. The waistband measures 3.5cm wide. There is a cotton gusset, and the toe section as well as the heel is not reinforced. In addition, the tip of the top section has a flat seam.
The composition is 91 polyamide and 9% elastane.
There are 6 sizes available for the style, ranging from XS to XXL. I have included the size chart below. Size M (II, 40-42) is used in this review.
At the time of writing this review, there are 12 colours available on the online shop. I have attached the colour palettes below. The colour I bought is Bark, which is actually not included in the available colours.
The fit was very good and true to the size recommendation. I have always found the sizing of KUNERT’s tights to be “wider” than other brands such as Falke and Wolford. This is especially the case at the thigh and panty. If you are more muscular or rounded, you may find KUNERT’s hosiery to have a better fit. Likewise, the envelopment was good. It gently hug the legs without exerting too much pressure, leaving me lots of freedom.
The waistband was indeed very comfortable as it is pressure-free. It did roll down a bit throughout the day, but nothing dreadful that is worth mentioning.
The appearance was simple and plain. Its function is more about keeping one’s legs warm in the cooler days than to be attractive. Having said that, the tights do have a subtle reflective shine.
The bark colour is somewhere between grey and blue. The images below showing me with tights and flats give a naturalistic look of the colour.
Although advertised as unreinforced toe, I did find the toe section to have a different kind of knitting. Close examination revealed that the knitting is actually denser than the hose itself. I therefore view it as lightly reinforced toe.
The tights did suffer from uneven colour distribution. It is possible to see a line in darker or lighter shade, where the folds are (see below images with a light yellow circle).
This is where its strength lies. The texture felt very soft and smooth, somewhere between fine cotton and silk. The waistband is really pressure-free, and the toes have a flat seam. All of these features made the tights especially comfortable to wear.
In addition, being 40 denier, it also keeps the legs warm in cooler days.
Though not especially attractive, the Velvet 40 tights is strikingly comfortable to wear. Too bad I couldn’t wear them all day because of the very warm weather. But it will definitely be one of my frequent wear once the climate cools down.
The Velvet 40 tights is available for €14 from KUNERT’s online shop and £14 from UK Tights. The style also comes in knee-highs.
