Over the years, many people asked why I don’t have a review on Wolford Pure 10 tights. The reason is I bought a pair in black just before I started the blog, and I wasn’t satisfied with the product, hence the long, missing article. Yet, the blog is incomplete without the review, so I finally decided to buy a pair in nude colour.
Again, I thank my friend Raffaella, who helped me to acquire the pair with a discount.
Strengths & Weaknesses
⊕ Absolutely soft and smooth! The best I have ever reviewed within Wolford Hosiery.
⊕ Very elastic thanks to high amount of elastane composition.
⊕ Innovative bonded seam on the panty is invisible even under tight-fitting clothing.
Packaging & product description
The packaging is the same as most Wolford tights I reviewed before. The images below illustrate clearly. One thing I really like about Wolford is their choice of the thin cardboard that hold the tights in place. The edges are round and perfectly cut, thus unlikely to cause snag during unboxing.
The product description is the same on both online and on the back of the packaging. It reads:
“Like a second skin: Sheer tights with a particularly smooth and even matt look and an exceptionally soft feel. The innovative bonding technique means that annoying seams disappear. Together with the soft, wide, comfortable waistband, the tights remain invisible under slim-fitting clothes.”
- Innovative combination of materials with a particularly soft feel
- The highest level of comfort thanks to high elasticity and perfect fit
- Almost invisible toe reinforcement (Shadow Toe)
- Cotton gusset
- The perfect addition to all looks
Appearance & texture
The Pure 10 tights are sheer tights (10 denier appearance) in reflective sheen fashion. The total length measures 72cm when laid on a flat surface. It is not sheer-to-waist, but characterised with a V-shaped panty. It has a slightly thicker appearance than the hose. The seam on the panty is bonded in a way that it is only marginally thicker than the panty. The tights have a very soft and smooth texture. It is also very stretchy. The knitted Wolford-signature waistband measures 5cm wide. The distance between the tip of the waistband to the crotch is 23cm. The gusset is made of cotton, and the toe section is lightly reinforced.
The composition is 73% polyamide and 27% elastane.
The size chart on the rear cover suggested a size range from XS to XXL. You do have to check with retailers if you are after the largest size. I have included the size chart below. Size S is used for this review.
At the time of writing this review, there are 8 colours available. I have summarised them in the image below. I bought Fairly Light for this review.
The fit was very good and true to the size recommendation shown on the chart. There was also a good envelopment on the entire lower body. The high amount of elastane composition really made a difference. The knitted waistband didn’t dig or roll.
The appearance was of course my favourite – matte with a reflective sheen. It exhibits a slight shimmer under direct sunlight, making the legs seductively elegant.
Compared to the Black colour I had last time, the tiny snags (if any) were almost invisible in nude colour. You could see the difference of the lightly reinforced toe. It is not clear though, especially when the colour matches your skin tone.
I didn’t take a picture of the extraordinary flat seam on the panty. But I can say it is invisible even under tight-fitting clothing. The V-shaped panty is only visible when the dress or skirt has a very long side slit.
The texture felt absolutely smooth and soft! It is the best I have ever tested and are on tie with Pure 50 tights I reviewed a long time ago. Likewise, the waistband was comfortable to wear. One thing worth mentioning, the tights do trap heat, making it warmer than it appears (10 denier). In addition, the waistband was very comfortable; I had not issues with it.
The Pure 10 tights (and the Pure range) have the softest and smoothest texture I have ever reviewed within Wolford hosiery. Its bonded seam is one of the best innovations in my opinion. Also, the tiny snags I experienced in black colour are far less visible in nude colour. I highly recommended it!
The style is currently available for €35, £33 or USD$61. The range also includes Pure 50, which has the same features but in 50 denier appearance.
