Do you know that biodegradable tights is already available on the shelves? Well, I didn’t know either, and it was pure coincidence that I picked up this one at the sales section, but I am glad that I did. Without further ado, let’s look into the Blue 90 biodegradable tights from KUNERT.
Strengths & Weaknesses
⊕ Biodegradable tights
⊕ Plenty of room for toes because of wide toe section
⊕ Comfy to wear
Packaging & product description
The packaging is exactly the same as the Blue Showpiece and Blue 15 in the same range. In brief, the tights is secured using a thin piece of cardboard. It is then fitted into a sleeve, which is then placed into a cover. The entire packaging is made from recycled paper – a key theme of the range.
The colourful flowers on the front cover is there for a reason. Blue 90 is made from biodegradable materials, whereas other styles within the same range are made from recycled nylon. The promotional video made by KUNERT illustrates clearly:
You will find the concept, product description and size chart on the rear cover. The specifications are placed on the top right corner on the rear cover.
The product description online is in German only. I have extracted the description on the rear cover, which reads:
“The mountain of textile waste made from synthetic fibres is growing inexorably. Can we simply stand by and watch? No! KUNERT BLUE is revolutionising the hosiery market with their biodegradable tights. Environmentally friendly from the start to the end, with all the same characteristics as conventional tights.”

Appearance & texture
The Blue 90 is opaque (90 denier appearance) tights in total matt fashion. The total length is 97.5cm when laid on a flat surface. The texture is pretty thick to the touch and felt like fine cotton. Its knitted waistband measures 5cm wide, and the distance between the waistband and the crotch is 22cm. There is a gusset, and the toe/heel section is not separately knitted.
The composition is 89% Polyamide and 11% elastane, both are biodegradable.
The size ranges from XS to XXL. I have included the size chart below. Size M was used for this review.
At the time of writing this review, there are 4 shades available online. They are (from left to right): Black, Marine, Carbon and Aubergine. I bought Black for this review.
The fit was very good and true to the size recommendation. I always like how KUNERT make their tights “wide”. It gently hugged the legs instead of squeezing them. I especially liked the wide seam at the toe section. It provided room for people who have wide feet. The fit for waistband was also very good. I didn’t experience any roll down or dig. Yet, it firmly sat on the waist.
Being opaque and total matt, the tights is introvertive in nature. It acted like a background, so that whatever colourful things you wear will outshine. KUNERT indeed suggested to pair the tights with a floral print dress.
The quality looked pretty good, especially the seam finish on the panty. The only flaw I observed was a stripe that runs through the centre of the tights. You can see a line in one of the images showing my feet.
The tights were moderately smooth and soft. It felt more like fine cotton despite its nylon nature. I could also feel the weight of the tights, and it did budge down a little after wearing it for the entire day.
I wound’t comment much on the warmth because the outside temperature is now in its low 20°C during the day. I will try it again when the weather cools down.
Comfy, opaque tights that will keep you warm during the cool days and is eco-friendly once worn. What could you ask for more?
The original price is €25, but now there is a 50% discount when you buy it at KUNERT Online Shop. By the way, I bought mine during summer sale in one of the department stores in Frankfurt, hence the reduced price.
