Appearance & texture
The Intrigue 20 is sheer (20 denier) tights in slight sheen fashion. It is sheer-to-waist. The total length of the tights is 89.5cm when laid on a flat surface. The texture is smooth but not particularly soft to the touch. It is very stretchy, yet quite tense. The knitted waistband measures 4cm wide. There is also a 2.5cm wide fingerband. The distance between the tip of the waistband and the crotch is around 17cm. There is a gusset, and the toe section is lightly reinforced (invisible toe).
The composition is 79% polyamide and 21% elastane.
The size ranges from S to XL. Mind that the the online shop uses numerals to represent sizing. The rear cover on the other hand, uses English abbreviations, such as S for Small. I have included the new size chart, which is available on the online shop, below. Size L is used in this review.
Originally, there were five colours available: Black, Amber, Dore, Moka, Singapour and Sun. Now it is subject to availability. I have bought Singapour for this review.
There was a synthetic (plastic) smell during unboxing. Such odour gradually lighten after wash.
The fit was okay. There were plenty of rooms for taller people, possibly up to 178cm. However, this was also the reason why it bagged around the knees after wearing it for a while. The envelopment was very good, and I will explain in detail in the Compression section.
The waistband was a bit tight on my 29” waist. You could see from the images below that it dug and rolled a little. The tights are made long with a relative small waistband circumference. It is more suitable for a slim person with long legs.
The tights exhibited a slight shimmer. It was more like mirror shine than glittering. The quality looked good. The colour was evenly distributed and I didn’t find any snags during unboxing.
Instead of lifting the hips, I found it flattens my tummy (no, I didn’t wear it back-to-front). You can see from the picture below that my hips was more or less the same when compared to Wolford Early Haze tights. The latter is a pair of fishnet tights, which have no hip lifting effect at all.
The tights also shaped the legs a little, giving a slimmer silhouette.
The Singapour is a very dark grey colour with a metallic hue. For comparison, it is darker than Wolford’s Anthracite or Fogal’s Dark Grey colour. I’d say it is greyish black.
The tights felt somewhat synthetic. It was smooth, but not particularly soft or tender. It was rather tense (despite being elastic).
The tights firmly hugged the legs and on the lower torso. The effect was less on the upper thigh and on the toes.
Despite being 20 denier, the tights did trap heat, and warmed up the legs. It may be more suitable for cooler days than a warm, summer day.
The back cover showed an image of hip lifting effect after wearing the tights. For me, I didn’t see or feel such effect. Instead, it was more like the lower body being compressed, especially at the tummy and crotch.
What the description didn’t mention was that the tights actually has a shaping effect on the legs. It was medium to strong on the ankle and calf. The effect gradually diminished at the mid thigh.
Although I didn’t experience a lifting effect on the hips, the tights do have a shaping effect on the legs and tummy. It is better view Intrigo 20 as leg support+tummy flattening tights.
The Intrigue 20 tights is available for €12.95 or £11.95. The style also comes in 10 denier – Intrigo 10 tights.
