In a previous review, we looked at Wolford’s Diamond Snake tights, which has patterns resembling that of snakeskin. In this article, we will look into another pair – the Crossband Net Tights from the same Brand.
Before we start, I have used images from Google Photos this time. You can view the album here, of which are in high resolution. Do drop me a comment if you are experiencing trouble viewing the images.
Strengths & Weaknesses
⊕ Authentic and individualistic appearance.
⊕ Wide waistband with holes can expand to accommodate wider waist.
⊕ Able to customise without causing the tights to ladder.
Packaging & product description
The packaging is the brand’s standard. In brief, the tights are wrapped around a thin piece of cardboard. It is then placed in a tri-fold cardboard. The contents are then deposited inside a transparent plastic sleeve for protection. The description, size chart and wash labels are printed on the rear cover.
The product description online and on the back of the packaging are the same, which reads:
“Reptile pattern combined with fishnet.”
“No compromise when it comes to style and comfort. The net is reminiscent of snakeskin while the broad sewn-on waistband guarantees maximum comfort.”
- Matte Look
- Sewn-On waistband featuring grid look
- Seamless panty
Appearance & texture
The Crossband Net is fishnet tights in matt fashion. It is characterised by hexagonal patterns in micro-fishnet mesh. Some hexagons are randomly made opaque, making the appearance resembling that of a reptile skin. Wolford categorised this style as “Free Cut Customizable”. It means one can cut the hose to turn the tights into leggings or capri, without causing it to ladder. The total length of the tights is 72cm when laid on a flat surface. Its texture is like fine cotton to the touch. The knitted waistband measures 5cm wide. It has small, rows of rectangular holes on the entire waistband. The distance from the tip of the waistband to the crotch is 16cm. There is a gusset, and the toe section is not reinforced.
The composition is 80% nylon and 20% elastane.
The size ranges from XS to XL. I have included the size chart below. Size S is used in this review.
To the best of my knowledge, there is only Black colour available, hence this is the colour used in this review.
The fit was very good and true to the size recommendation. There was also a good envelopment, with the tights hugging the legs the whole time. The elasticity was moderate though, i.e., it wasn’t as stretchy as one would expect with having 20% elastane.
The waistband used is the same as those used in the Fatal range. The holes on the waistband allow it to expand, thus accommodate waists that are wider than usual. Hence it is also suitable for women in early pregnancy. For me, this waistband is my favourite, as it is almost pressure-free and adapts my waist without difficulty.
The toe section remains the same knitting as the rest of the foot, which is micro mesh. I didn’t experience any issues with such.
Oh, I love the design! The randomly placed opaque flecks made the tight look authentic and individualistic. Moreover, I see the entire range, which features animal prints, as gender neutral. One can wear them without looking too feminine. In addition, the quality was superb! It was flawless when I examine it during unboxing.
When looked closely, every intersection of threads intertwine like “knots”. This is probably the reason why the tights can be cut without laddering.
The tights are generally matt. Only opaque areas have subtle reflective sheen under direct lighting.
The texture felt more like fine cotton. It was a bit itchy first, but once the tights were warmed up and moistened by the legs, it felt better. Also, the tights felt thicker than ordinary fishnets. It was more like wearing a pair of 30-40 denier tights, thus more suitable for cooler days. Given the fishnet nature, the breathability was pretty good.
I definitely recommend it for its appearance and characteristic waistband.
Unfortunately, the style is out of stock on Wolford Online Shop. But you can still find it in physical boutiques or third party retailers. For reference, the original price is €39, £39 or USD$67.
