Review: Trasparenze Invisible tights

Trasparenze’s images of model wearing  hosiery in an extravagant background have always teased me.  So I decided to try one of their styles.  Scroll/swipe down to see my thoughts about it…

For high resolution photos, please visit my Google Photo album here.

Strengths & Weaknesses

⊕ Unbelievably shiny in ultra-sheer appearance.
⊕ Comfortable waistband.

⊗ Tights lack of elasticity.
⊗ Synthetic feel on the legs.

Packaging & product description

We often see tights packaged using cardboard-made covers and transparent plastic sleeves.  Some of them will have sleeve as outer layer while others have cardboard cover as the outermost one.  The packaging of the Invisible tights, belongs to the latter.

You will find a beautiful model wearing the style, as well as the name of the brand and style on the front cover.  The product description is printed at the rear cover in six languages.  You will also find the tights specs, size chart and wash labels on the rear.  The thin cardboard features other styles and instructions on how to put on the tights.

The product description online and on the rear cover mention different aspects of the style.  I have extracted both, which reads:

Online:

“These extra sheer tights will give your legs a tanned make-up effect. Your legs will keep a bare look even wearing these tights. Antiperspirant tights with non-tightening waistband”

On the back cover:

“Special very fine and invisible tights with tanning effect.  Thanks to the use of two-component yarn and to their airy knitting, they offer a pleasant feeling of freshness.  Sheer to the waist, invisible toe, flat seams and transpiring cotton gusset.”

Appearance & texture

The Invisible is ultra-sheer (10 denier) tights in shiny fashion.  It is sheer-to-waist.  The total length of the tights is 95cm when laid on a flat surface.  The texture is soft, but somewhat synthetic to the touch.  The knitted waistband measures 3.5cm wide.  There is also a 3cm-wide fingerband, which also runs along the seam on the centre of the panty.  No tag or clear markings is found on the inner side of the waistband, but the tights is shaped.  The distance between the tip of the waistband and the crotch is around 26cm.  There is a gusset, and the toe is lightly reinforced (shadow toe).

The composition is 60% nylon and 40% polyurethane.

As the gusset is clearly visible, you can see how thin the tights are.
The legs and the feet are shaped.

Size range

Trasparenze uses numbers for sizing, ranging from 1 (smallest) to 5 (largest).  Size 5 (Maxi) has an extra fabric on the rear panty to provide space for wider hips.  I have included the size chart below.  Size 3 is used for this review.

Colour

At the time of writing this review, there are five colours available on Trasparenze’s online shop.  They are Playa, Fango, Cosmetic, Bronzè and Nero.  I bought Playa for this review.

Impression

FIT

The fit was good and true to the size recommendation.  There is however, a serious issue – the tights lack of elasticity.  This led to two problems.  Firstly, there are some areas that are tighter than others, and vice versa.  For me, it was the feet and the thigh that were tighter, and loose at the calves.  These were still present despite the tights are shaped.  Secondly, wrinkles formed around the knees not long after putting the tights on.  For these reasons, one may need to be very close to the recommended maximum height to mitigate this drawback.

The waistband has check patterns similar to that of the Pierre Mantoux Veloutine 15 tights.  It was pretty much pressure free and very comfortable to wear.  Likewise, there was sufficient room for the toes to wiggle and I had no issues with the toe section.

LOOK

If you are looking for something ultra-sheer and shiny, then you are in the right place!  In my observation, the style was already shiny under ambient lighting.  It became glossy under direct sunlight.  One can hardly miss the sparkles even it is ultra-sheer.

The tights were pretty see-through and did not exhibit any powdery effect.  For this reason, I am rather conservative about its make-up effect on the legs (as said in the description).

The Playa is a lightly tanned colour.  Since the tights are very thin, they won’t make your legs look weird even if you bought a colour slightly off than your skin colour.

There were already a few snags found during unboxing.  Fortunately, they were hard to spot, due to the sheerness and nude colour nature.  The snags didn’t turn into a ladder either.  Still, one need to bear in mind that the tights are ultra-sheer and thus very delicate.

FEEL

The tights felt soft, but was somewhat synthetic, like caressing nylon fabric.  It wasn’t particularly smooth, and gradually became rough after a few strokes.

As I mentioned earlier, there were areas that the tights felt tighter and places that were loose.  On tight areas, it was like they were fully stretched, as if the tights are on the brink of tearing.  Hence I dared not to do extensive movements while wearing it.

They are very thin and airy.  I had to wear another layer on top of it as winter has arrived.

Final words

The appearance is eye-catching but the lack of elasticity is a big issue.  I would only recommend it if you are at the very right end within a size range.  The style is available for €14.40.
