Review: Le Bourget Couture Collant Microfibre 15D Tights

Microfibre yarn, as the name implies, is yarn that consisted of ultra fine fibres.  Since they are extra fine, tights knitted from microfibre yarn are generally very smooth.  They feel especially comfortable on the skin.  In this review, I’d like to look into a pair of microfibre tights made by Le Bourget…

The style I am reviewing is not available on the Brand’s website.  I believe it has been replaced by the two Transparent Mat 15 that we see today.  For this reason, I relied on third party retailers for some specifications.

Strengths & Weaknesses

⊕ Fairly comfortable to wear.

⊙ Matt with reflective sheen.

⊗ Minor quality issue.

Packaging & product description

The tights roll around a thin cardboard and are wrapped in a plastic, transparent sleeve.  It is then placed inside an envelope made of cardboard.  You can see the colour of the tights through the rectangular opening at the top of the envelope.  The product description, size chart and composition are printed on the rear cover.

The product description on the rear cover are printed in three languages: French, English and Russian.  I have extracted the English version, which reads:

“Real reflection of Le Bourget Know-How, this collection “Couture” is a range made of luxurious fabrics to be matched with hold ups and tights.  Microfibre 15D tights is a tights made of an extremely comfort and an irreproachable aesthetic to offer perfect legs.”

  • Sheer to waist
  • Flat Seams
  • Cotton Gusset
  • Invisible toes
  • Shaped foot

Appearance & texture

The Couture Collant Microfibre 15D are sheer tights (15 denier) in matt fashion.  It is sheer-to-waist.  The total length of the tights is approximately 80cm when laid on a flat surface.  The texture is soft but not particularly smooth to the touch.  The knitted waistband measures 3.5cm.  There is also a 1.3cm-wide fingerband.  The length between the tip of the waistband and the crotch is around 22cm.  There is a gusset, and the toe section is reinforced.

The composition is 70% nylon and 30% elastane.

The feet are shaped.

Size range

According to the size chart, there are five sizes available for the style. I have included the size chart below.  Size T3 was used for this review.

Colour

The colours I found on third party retailers include Noir, Marine, Vison and Bronze (the latter two being nude colours).  I bought Marine for this review.

Impression

FIT

The fit was very good and true to the size recommendation.  There was also a very good envelopment.  For me, there was a particular firm grip on the thigh.  The waistband was almost pressure-free.  It didn’t cause any problems for me.  Likewise, the size of the toe section was wide enough for my toes to wiggle around.

LOOK

The tights were advrtised as matt but actually comes with a reflective sheen (see the image below).  If you are after total matt, then this style won’t be suitable.

The colour was evenly distributed and the look was great.  However, I found a series of snags during unboxing.  These must have slipped away from quality checks, as they are not easy to spot unless observed at very close range.  It didn’t ladder though.

FEEL

The tights felt fairly soft and smooth.  It wasn’t particularly pleasant to touch (when caress over) but fairly comfortable to wear.  The seams seams at the panty are flat ones.  Yet the ones used at the toe section are ordinary seams, so yes they are more noticeable.  Being sheer in nature, the tights are pretty breathable.

Final words

The tights has a very good fit and was fairly comfortable to wear.  Having said that, it is not the best microfibre-made tights I have experienced.  I hope that changes in the naming system also led to upgrades in the collection.  We shall see…
