Last October, Wolford updated their Velvet de Luxe 66 tights to include an extra wide waistband. I finally got my hands on a pair of these. So without further ado, let’s have a look into this edition.

Strengths & Weaknesses
⊕ Superb comfortableness
⊕ Extra wide waistband brings comfort at the waist into next level
Packaging & product description
The packaging is the same as those used in Satin Touch 20 Comfort Tights. It is also very similar to the packaging used for clothing. You can swipe/scroll down to see my unboxing pictures below.
I didn’t find the style’s description on the Wolford Online Shop. The one on the rear cover reads:
“Crafted for Comfort.
These intelligent opaque tights have high elasticity for great fit and long-lasting flexibility. With a matte appearance and soft touch, they make legs look and feel amazing.”
- Extreme elasticity
- Soft & wide comfortable waistband with logo
Appearance & texture
The Velvet de Luxe 66 Comfort are opaque (66 denier) tights in matt fashion. Its total length is 88cm when laid on a flat surface. The texture is very smooth and relatively soft to the touch. The knitted waistband measures 6.5cm wide. There is no fingerband. The distance between the tip of the waistband and the crotch is 22cm. The gusset is knitted, and the toe is reinforced.
The composition is 94% nylon and 6% elastane.
The size ranges from XS to XL. I have included the size chart below. Size S is used in this review.
To the best of my knowledge, there are three colours available at the time of writing this review. They are: Anthracite, Admiral and Black. I bought Admiral for this review.
I find the edges of the tag to be pretty rough. It snagged the tights when I roll the hose up, to have the item stored in the closet. Do handle carefully on these new styles.
The fit was very good and true to the size recommendation. There was also a relatively good envelopment. The tights give a gentle hug, especially on the thigh. Although only having a small elastane content, the tights was fairly stretchy. There was no presence of wrinkles or bagging around the knees or ankles after long hours of wearing.
The new, extra wide waistband was pretty elastic. Its circumference was also wider than that of the Satin touch 20 Comfort Tights of the same size. For this reason, it grabbed onto my waist naturally, and no discomfort even after wearing them for a day. The toe section is separately knitted. It provided sufficient room for my toes and I didn’t have any problems with it.
This is no doubt a high quality build!! The colour was evenly distributed and the look was pure elegance.
The tights actually exhibit a reflective sheen under direct sunlight. You can see from the picture below.
The first impression was that it is extremely smooth!! So smooth that I had to watch my footstep when walking on polished floor. It was also relatively soft and comfy on the skin. The tights were stretchy but not to the point of “extreme elasticity”, as advertised. Overall, they are very comfortable to wear, even for long periods of time.
The waistband was also very comfortable. For me, it had a tiny bit of pressure on the waist, but I had no issues with such.
The 66 denier was ideal for the cold, damp winter, as it provide sufficient warmth for me.
The Velvet de Luxe 66 Comfort tights are very comfy and the extra wide waistband was definitely a plus! Strangely, the style is currently unavailable on Wolford Online Shop. Fingers crossed Wolford would reintroduce them as the north hemisphere heads into Autumn. More colour selection would be even better!
The style is currently priced at €29 or £27.
